Amelia Niemi, Associate Attorney

Amelia Niemi is an Associate Attorney at Clayborne & Wagner LLP with a focus on personal injury defense work and the preparation of appeals for the appellate prosecutor related to the new Illinois Pretrial Fairness Act (SAFE-T Act).

Prior to joining the law firm, she served as an Associate Attorney at a high-volume general practice law firm in Chicago. There, her exemplary customer service earned her the LegalShield Corporate Award in April 2024. She gained extensive experience in a wide variety of law, including contracts, intellectual property, data privacy, settlement, litigation, discrimination in public accommodations, and commercial shipping.

Ms. Niemi also has experience as a legal writer and analyst, having produced high-quality legal articles and blog posts. Her work has helped many individuals navigate the nuances of legal transactions, including court hearings, negotiations, and legal paperwork. Notably, she provided valuable content for Upsolve.org, a non-profit organization recognized by Time Magazine. Additionally, she served as a Foreign Legal Consultant at a law firm in Guangzhou, China. During her time there, she advised clients on various international legal matters, drafted contracts, and worked on an international trade case before the New York State Court of Appeals.

She has also served in specialized practice groups, focusing on federal regulatory compliance for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and intellectual property defense. She has drafted numerous FAA petitions, advised clients on UAS businesses, defended clients in copyright infringement cases, and negotiated settlements. Ms. Niemi began her legal career representing mortgage lenders and servicers in foreclosure actions, evictions, and building code violations.

Ms. Niemi holds a Juris Doctorate with a Certificate in Intellectual Property: Art and Museum Law from DePaul University College of Law. She received a B.A. in Classical Humanities and a B.A. in Philosophy, magna cum laude, from The George Washington University.
