Kiyanna Avant, Paralegal

Kiyanna Avant is a paralegal at Clayborne & Wagner LLP, specializing in managing complex legal projects with both precision and care. She plays a critical role in the appeals process for the Illinois “No Cash Bond” SAFE-T Act, having managed over 500 cases to date. In her role, Ms. Avant drafts and formats State Appellate responses for clients. Her work includes creating detailed documents such as detention orders, revocation orders, and conditions of release orders, ensuring compliance with the most recent Supreme Court rules. She also oversees memos, responses, and motions deadlines, ensuring timely and accurate legal filings.

In addition to her work on the SAFE-T Act appeals, Ms. Avant is the project manager for litigation cases in Central and Northern Illinois. Her responsibilities span the entire litigation process, from drafting pre-lawsuit demand letters to managing court filings, coordinating with process servers, and preparing for trial. She is proficient in Illinois E-filing and has developed a comprehensive file management system that enhances workflow efficiency for her team.

Before joining Clayborne & Wagner LLP, she worked in family and asbestos law in St. Clair County, Illinois. In this role, she created engagement forms and managed billing for new clients and retainer information. Additionally, Ms. Avant handled redaction, extraction, and combination of discovery files, as well as drafted motions and petitions, and reviewed weekly dockets. 

She graduated from Southwestern Illinois College with an A.A. in Paralegal Studies.
