About Corinne
Corinne Mitchell is a Partner at Clayborne & Wagner LLP. As a seasoned attorney and lifelong equestrian, she heads the firm’s Equine Law division, where she utilizes her in-depth knowledge and understanding of the equine industry to serve clients in both litigation and transactional services. Spearheading the firm’s Equine Law divisions allows Ms. Mitchell to handle matters in a wide range of areas including real estate, commercial leases, business formation, and liability consultation and mitigation. She enjoys handling causes for clients both inside the courtroom and out, representing and engaging in contractual matters entailing drafting, negotiations, and
evaluation of risk reduction within contracts.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Mitchell spent two years as a law clerk to the Honorable Judge David R. Herndon in the Southern District of Illinois, with a particular emphasis on mass actions and multi-district litigation.
Before clerking, Ms. Mitchell served as an associate attorney for HeplerBroom LLC, where she worked exclusively on the complex litigation team, working closely on high-profile toxic tort trials in the city of St. Louis.
Ms. Mitchell graduated from law school cum laude where she participated in moot court and was a selected finalist of the ABA Negotiations Competition. She received her B.S. in Liberal Arts and Sciences from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, along with a minor in Animal Sciences, where she completed a core group of equine-related coursework.
She brings to the table ample experience in the horse industry and equine litigation. She has ridden hunter jumpers since the age of six. When Ms. Mitchell is not working cases, she actively competes in the jumpers at “A” rated national competitions. Recently, her horse earned 2021 USHJA Zone Horse of the Year recognition. Ms. Mitchell had the honor of serving as the assistant coach for the University of Illinois’ Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association Hunter Jumper Show Team from 2011-2015.
